Antique, Boat shape, Ruby and Diamond ring in 18ct gold.
 
A beautiful, Boat Shape or Marquise shape, Ruby and Diamond ring hallmarked in Chester, 1912. The Makers mark is indistinct as the ring was re-sized too close to it at some point in the past and it has been largely polished out. The settings are in surprisingly good condition for a ring of this age, but the stones and the setting edges have helped this. 
 
General Description: 18ct gold, Boat Shape Ruby and Diamond ring.
 
Ring Size: UK size Q (US 6.5)
 
Measurements: The head of the ring measures approximately 6.2 mm at the widest point and the setting is approximately 15.5 mm wide across the finger. The setting is approximately 3.4 mm high off the finger. The shank tapers from the setting width to approximately 1.8mm at the back.
 
Stone details: 4x Old Cut Diamonds and 3x Round Rubies. The Diamonds weigh approximately 0.10cts in total (estimated). The clarity is in the Included/Pique range. The colour is difficult to assess in this setting, but they aren't in the high range. The Rubies measure approximately 3mm (x2) and 4mm (x1) in diameter, but the setting prevents an accurate weight calculation. The colours are rich and there are a few inclusions.
 
Metal and Marks: Makers mark is illegible, Chester, 1912, 18ct gold. There is also an old pattern number A35.
 
Weight: Approximately 4.16 grams
 
Condition: The settings are in good condition. There is a little wear to the facet edges on the Rubies. Two of the Diamonds are damaged, but it doesn't affect the overall appearance too much as the quality of them was lower to start.  
 
This is an nice quality ring. 
 
It is possible to size this, but please ask first, so we can make sure it's possible and what cost/timescale may be involved.
 
All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
