A pair of medium, domed, Keum Boo stud earrings.
A perfect pair of earrings for frequent wear. Ideal for when you want to combine colours. Each earring is individually made with no two being identical.
These earrings are made from a combination recycled gold and silver. The front is Fine Silver with bonded pure gold and the posts and backs are sterling silver for strength.
The earrings have a random spiral pattern to them and 2 stripes of applied gold. The studs are 10mm in diameter with a 1mm thick front and a slight dome. Over time, the colour of the silver will darken as it naturally tarnishes but the gold will remain bright giving a lovely contrast. You can of course use dip like cleaners to remove this tarnish, but personally I think they look better with age.
Keum Boo is a Korean technique of bonding pure gold foil to silver using heat and pressure. The process diffuses the gold and silver together, effectively "soaking in" to each other. The gold layer is thicker than most gilded jewellery giving a nice effect for a longer period of time.
