Sterling silver and cut glass Preserve or Conserve jar.
A great item for a nicely laid breakfast table, breakfast in bed or a cream tea. It adds a bit more finesse than just putting a jam jar out.
It's approximately 4 1/2"(11 cm) tall and 3" (75 mm) wide. The spoon is approximately 4 1/2" (11 cm) long with the bowl being approximately 1 1/4" (30 mm) wide.
Lanson Ltd. (1933-1970) of Birmingham, Sterling Silver. Jar lid dated 1949, spoon dated 1947 which is not uncommon.
The hallmarks are a little rubbed, but that's about it for the silver. The glass has a couple of very slight chips that I can't get to show up on a picture. Other than that, it's in great condition.
All vintage items have been used and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
Thank you for looking and please have a look around the other items in my shop.
