Antique Pheasant Brooch in 15ct Gold and Enamel.
 
A beautiful example of a simple, enamelled, Pheasant brooch. A great example of less is more. It's made from 15ct gold, vitreous (glass) enamel and Pearl. The dealer I bought this from was certain that the pearl is a natural pearl, but I believe it to be a "Coque de Pearl" which is a small piece of shell. It's priced based of the peal being shell, but I will make adjustments if I remove the pearl and have a good look.
 
Dimensions: The brooch measures approximately 50mm (2") overall and is approximately 13mm tall (bar to head).
Gemstone Details: There is 1x Natural Pearl or "Coque de Pearl" measuring approximately 3.6mm x 5.8mm and the rest of the bird (other than legs) is enamelled, and well done also.
Marks and Metals: The Brooch is stamped 15ct and tested to confirm. 
Condition: Very good. The pin is still springy. There is a small amount of chipping to the enamel on the head, but not really noticeable without magnification. Again, this is priced assuming the pearl is not a natural pearl. If I'm brave enough to remove it and test it, I will update the listing. I don't want to heat up the pearl or enamel to soften the glue unless I need to.
 
All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
