Antique Ruby and Diamond fancy cluster ring mounted in 18ct gold.
 
A nice example of a late Victorian (circa 1880-1900) oval shape cluster ring. 
 
Ring Size: UK/AU Size Q 1/2,  US Size 8.5, EU 58.75,.
Rubies: One centre Ruby of Approximately 3.1mm in diameter, flanked by 2x 2.7mm round Rubies. The Rubies are a nice rich colour without being dark. It's most likely the Rubies are heat treated, but I can't see any immediate evidence of this. Heat treatment is common practice for Rubies and has been since before Victorian times.
Diamonds: There are 16 round Diamonds around the edge with most being Old Cuts, but there are 2 later replacement eight cuts. They are all relatively bright and white. The clarity ranges from I2 right up to VS as is often the case with a ring of this period. The average diameter of the Diamonds is 1.6mm.
The setting measures approximately 14.3 mm across the finger and x 7.3 mm at the widest point. The setting stands approximately 3.9 mm high off the finger. The shank/band tapers from approximately 4mm at the shoulder to approximately  1.2mm at the back.
Marks/Metal: There are no marks within the ring, but this wasn't a legal requirement until 1975. The ring tests as 18ct gold.
 
Condition: Very good. There is a little wear to the facet edges of the Rubies and the ring in general, but nothing of concern.
 
Sizing: It is possible to size this, but please ask first, so we can make sure it's possible and what cost/timescale may be involved.
 
A little additional history. This ring was sold by my previous employer in 1996 and it's barely been worn since then.
