Antique Turquoise and Split Pearl "Kiss" ring in 15ct gold.
 
A pretty little Victorian ring, set with Turquoise and Split Pearls in the form of a kiss. This sweet ring is one of the rarities that has a full, and clear, 15ct gold hallmark. The majority of 15ct gold rings from this period have their marks rubbed away or are simply stamped 15ct, so it's really nice to see.
 
Dimensions: Approximately 5mm wide at the top tapering to approximately 2.5mm at the back. It stands approximately 3mm off the finger at the highest point.

Gemstone Details: The ring is set with 4 small split pearls of 2 different sizes and 7 small Cabochon Turquoise of varying sizes. The stones and pearls all seem to be in good condition. I would be very surprised if the stones hadn't been replace in the rings 140 year history, possibly with a treated or stabilized Turquoise.

Finger size: Approximately M 1/2 (UK/AU), 6.25 (US).

Marks/Hallmarks: Full UK hallmark, AH.GH, London, 15ct gold, 1881.

Weight: Approximately 3.63 grams.
 
Condition: For a ring that is over 140 years old, excellent. There is an old join from where the ring was re-sized sometime in the past. There is a small crack (see image 5) which is very old and doesn't seem to pose a problem. Much of the original depletion gilding (cool but hazardous process, Google it) has worn off over time., but there are still traces of it, mostly around the settings. The stones are set in with glue/cement. It's important not to get this ring too wet or warm and avoid strong chemicals and oils.
 
All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand-new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
