A hand carved shell cameo brooch of a Maiden mounted in 9ct gold.
 
The mount is of a traditional twisted wire, scallop and bead design. The Cameo is finely carved and depicts a portrait of a Lady. A very classic design.
 
The Brooch measures approximately 55mm x 42mm (2" x 1 1/2") overall with the cameo measuring approximately 50mm x 36mm (2 1/8" x 1 1/4"). There are no visible cracks to the shell which is great on a Cameo of this age. 

The metal is marked F.M. for the makers marks and 9ct with a base metal pin, which isn't uncommon. This dates from the early 20th Century.
 
Some of the beads around the edge of this, particularly at the bottom, are holed at the back and the back frame has some minor buckles, but overall this is in very good condition.
 
All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand-new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
