Vintage Rhodochrosite necklace on a 9ct gold ball clasp.
 
A beautiful colour row of beads which I hope I've been able to show in the pictures. You can buy Rhodochrosite beads for anything from a couple of pounds through to many hundreds (for the transparent to translucent beads without any white), these are certainly of a better quality and they come on a 9ct gold clasp and these are costing plenty these days (the last I bought cost me over £40).
 
Measurements: Approximately 19" (48.5cm) long with the beads measuring approximately 6-6.5mm in diameter. The 9ct gold Ball clasp, of the safety type, measures just over 7.5mm in diameter.
Metals and Marks: The clasp is under the weight limit for compulsory hallmarking, but is stamped 735 for 9ct gold and this has been tested to confirm. 
Bead Details: The beads are cut from the stalactite formation of Rhodochrosite which has a typical whitish banding (often referred to as "Bacon Strip") Parts of some of these beads are semi transparent, which is less usual. The beads have a pleasing dusty pink hue. 
  
Condition: Excellent. No visible damage to the beads the clasp has some very light scratches. This has recently been re-strung, so it is tight and will need to relax to hang nicely.
 
All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
