Antique, Sterling Silver, Watch Albert/Watch Chain with fob. 
 
These are getting much harder to find in good condition and the correct length. This is mainly due to the fashion of converting them to bracelets or necklets. Even when someone kept the spares to put it back together, the wear is often very uneven. This is a single Albert, that would go from the pocket watch, in a waistcoat pocket, to the waistcoats buttonhole. This one comes complete with a swivel fob as well. One side of the fob is Sard (more brown Cornelian), the other Bloodstone.
 
Measurements: It measures approximately 30cm (11.75")mm from swivel to T-bar. The T-Bar is approximately 40mm (1 1/2") long. The chain graduates in width from approximately 6mm wide at the ends to 7mm in the middle. The fob is approximately 22mm wide x 300 tall x 9mm thick.
Metal and Marks: Marks on the fob are Makers mark for Edwin Whitehouse, Birmingham, Sterling Silver, 1899. The chain has a Sterling silver lion stamped on each link.
Weight: Approximately 35.34 grams in total.
Condition: Excellent condition for an antique. The T-Bar is the type that has a brass core with a sleeve of silver over the top for strength, which was not uncommon for antique chains as they supported heavier watches. The silver near the rings has a very small patch of damage where the inside core can be seen. There is some wear to the chain, which is even and far less than I would expect. The fob has numerous little dents and there is chipping around the edge of the stones. Still pretty good for over 100 years old.
 
All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
