A nice antique, thimble in Sterling Silver. Size 16.
 
Very clear hallmark: Birmingham, 1899, Henry Griffith & Sons Ltd. 
 
It measures approximately 24 mm high and 17mm diameter at the open end.  It is a little off round as you can see in the pictures, but I have learnt there is not much point in re-shaping them as they are usually tweaked for the next user. The decoration is utilitarian, dotted, pattern and there are no holes in the top, which is great for a thimble of this age.
 
All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
