A nice, Antique, thimble in Sterling Silver. Size 18.
 
Clear hallmark: Chester, 1923, although the makers mark has been over stamped making it difficult to read. This is from when a wholesaler or retailer used their own punch mark over the top of the original makers mark. 
 
Dimensions: It measures approximately 23 mm high and 16mm diameter at the opening. It has a flat spot on the edge of the opening, making it a little off round as you can see in the pictures, but I have learnt there is not much point in re-shaping them as they are usually tweaked for the next user.
 
The decoration is a nice pinwheel design and there are no holes in the top, which is great for a thimble of this age. The thimble has been engraved on the rim "MD" in a slightly Gothic style.
 
Weight: Approximately 7.93 grams, which is fairly heavy for a thimble.
 
All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
