A pair of antique, Sterling Silver Forks.

These forks are of a heavy, salad fork type, but I am certain they are cut down table forks due to the length and shape of the tines. As outside  fork tines (the points) get worn, it became normal to file them all down to the same length in order to carry on using them.

These measure approximately 7 1/4" (185mm) long and each weigh approximately 41 to 42g. The handle is engraved with a "W" in a typical style of the time.

Hallmarks, London, 1813, Duty Mark and makers mark of SH, possibly Solomon Hougham, but it's difficult to tell.

Other than being too short for table forks, they are in pretty good condition. At the time of listing I have 2 pairs of these, both of very similar dimensions.

These do not come boxed as my guess is the box had disappeared before 1814.

All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.

Thank you for looking and please have a look around the other items in my shop.
