Vintage, Sterling Silver and Enamel Fob.

This fob is a 5 Mile run medal issued by the Elswick Harriers in 1937. It was awarded to William Kirkup in 1937 as engraved on the back.  The front is enamelled in Transparent Red and Opaque White and has the clubs logo , name and Founded in 1889 (incidentally the Elswick Harriers are one of the oldest running clubs in the UK). The reverse is engraved with "Wm. Kirkup 1937 5 Miles" and a few little flourishes. This would look great on a watch albert/chain, but also as an unusual pendant.

For a gentleman, this would often be worn on the end of a pocket watch chain to weight it in the pocket or to be displayed near the T-Bar at the front of the waistcoat.

Measurements: It measures approximately 36mm (1 1/2") top to tail not including the top jump ring, 25mm (1") wide at the widest point and just over 2.7mm thick at the thickest point of the body (not the ring).

Metal and Marks: Makers mark of F&S (Fattorini & Sons Ltd.), Sterling Silver, Birmingham, 1937.

Weight: Approximately 11.19 grams.

Condition: The fob is in excellent condition for its age. There are some minor marks to the metal and some very small signs of damage to the enamel, but this is minimal and much better than I would expect for its age. The jump ring is a little out of shape and worn. I haven't replaced the jump ring as it feels original to me.

All vintage items have been worn and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be worn or used with a little more care than a brand new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.

Thank you for looking and please have a look around the other items in my shop.
